According to Rashid Khan, Gujarat has developed a habit of maintaining composure during tense run chases over the past several seasons. “It’s something that happens with you, and you do it again and again, then it becomes a habit. It’s a mindset that okay, we can chase it, and it’s all about making sure that you have the mindset. We have done it in the past few times in the last couple of seasons. Now it has become a habit,” Rashid said in a video on IPL’s website.
“It was more about belief,” the Afghanistan cricketer said after smashing Avesh Khan for three boundaries as GT needed to get fifteen runs off the final over. Rashid finished undefeated on 24 runs off 11 balls and four fours.
“It was more about belief. We had in mind that we won a few games while chasing in the last couple of seasons. So, it was not something impossible, we just need to make sure that we had the right mindset, and right intent of getting those runs in those 18 balls,” Rashid said.
After finishing with remarkable statistics of 4-0-18-1 and taking Jos Buttler’s wicket, Rashid Khan was named Player of the Match. Rashid Khan stated that he needed to showcase all of his variations when batting on a great surface.
“The most important thing was hitting the right areas. The more consistent I am with my length, the better result will come out. It was about making sure that I mixed it up for the batters as on such grounds and such wickets, if you don’t mix it up, it becomes harder for you,” Rashid added.
