Amidst the competition for slots ahead of India’s T20 World Cup squad announcement, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill confidently talks up his chances. While acknowledging that there is no bigger honor than representing India in the T20 World Cup, Gill also emphasizes that allowing national selection to occupy his mind would be “doing injustice to himself and his team.”
Despite the looming T20 World Cup, Indian cricket star Shubman Gill remains steadfastly focused on leading the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). With the prestigious event set to take place in June this season in the United States and West Indies, the right-handed batsman finds himself in contention for a spot in the lineup, competing particularly with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the opener’s slot. Gill emphasizes that while his fate will only be revealed with time, he is committed to staying grounded and concentrating solely on the present task at hand.
In his debut as an IPL team leader, Shubman Gill has exemplified leadership from the forefront. However, despite his efforts, the Gujarat Titans have endured a season marked by inconsistency. Currently, with four wins and five defeats, the 2022 IPL champions find themselves languishing at the seventh spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table.
