Hardik Pandya’s poor leadership will cost MI a postseason spot in 2024: Manoj Tiwary

Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary believes that if Hardik Pandya keeps leading the team as he has been this season, MI won’t make the playoffs. The former batsman criticized Pandya for his fielding choices following MI’s Indian Premier League defeat at the hands of RR. Speaking on Cricbuzz, Tiwary seemed irritated that Hardik Pandya, instead of giving the ball to the world’s greatest pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, against Rajasthan, took the new ball.

On Monday, April 22, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, MI was soundly defeated by RR as the Sanju Samson secured a convincing victory against the Mumbai team. Tiwary contended that the MI team was reluctant to apply the afterburners when the necessity arose because they did not completely support their captain’s intentions.

Hardik got Things Easier for the Batter

“Why won’t you bowl Jasprit Bumrah in the opening over if he is in the lineup? Jaiswal wasn’t playing well, and Buttler had just come off a century. You should give your greatest bowler every opportunity to take a wicket. The fresh ball lost some of its gloss when Hardik Pandya entered the field after being struck for two boundaries, which also decreased the swing gap. After the game, Manoj Tiwary stated on Cricbuzz that “things got easier for the batter.”

“I don’t see MI progressing in the points table because these silly mistakes are being made,” Manoj Tiwary said.
In closing, Tiwary stated that the fact that MI had played eight games while the teams above Pandya’s squad had only played seven was the main issue facing the team. MI currently has six points, which puts them in seventh place in the league rankings.

“MI will not make the playoffs if this captaincy persists. Players previously worked with Rohit Sharma. As of right now, it appears that the MI players do not accept Hardik Pandya as the team’s captain,” Tiwary said.

Three of MI’s remaining six IPL games this season will be played at home. The team hasn’t exactly turned Wankhede into a stronghold—they’ve already lost at home to RR and CSK.
